The number of COVID-19 cases in South Korea jumped back to triple digits on Wednesday.
And to reduce the risk of a major outbreak stemming from Halloween celebrations, some nightclubs are shutting this weekend.
Kim Sung-min reports.
South Korea reported 103 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.
Of those, 96 were local transmissions and seven were from overseas.
There was one additional death, bringing the death toll to 4-hundred-61.
The domestic infections were mostly concentrated in the greater Seoul area,... which reported a combined 61 cases.
The region continues to see sporadic cluster infections stemming from nursing homes and healthcare facilities.
A golf gathering in Yongin City, Gyeonggi-do Province has led to at least 31 cases, including those coming from family members of participants.
Given that there were 80 participants in total, the gathering could lead to further cluster infections.
As for the upcoming Halloween celebrations that has put the nation's health authorities on high alert, some major clubs in Seoul have voluntarily decided to close over the coming weekend.
That is to prevent possible cluster infections from massive gatherings that normally occur during the holiday.
According to the statements, the clubs will be shut until the 3rd of November.
They added that the decision came voluntarily after the clubs discussed the issue with the health authorities.
As of Wednesday, the total COVID-19 cases in the country stand at twenty-six thousand one hundred forty-six.
