Early ballots continue to increase, as the U.S. presidential election gets closer

Less than two weeks left now until Election Day in the U.S.
Already, tens of millions of ballots have been cast in early voting.
And as the candidates make their final pitches, tensions are rising between their supporters.

According to the U.S. Elections Project, as of Tuesday, more than 37 million ballots have been cast in early voting, which is already 69 percent of the total cast in early voting four years ago.
With two weeks left to go, that figure is on course for a record high this year... due in part to the pandemic but also to an unusually high level of interest.
"I wasn't interested in the past, actually, but I think now it's very important to do so."
A poll by the New York Times and Siena College conducted from October 15th to 18th, found that among likely voters... former Vice President Joe Biden held a lead over President Trump of nine percent.
Biden had 50 percent to Trump's 41 percent.
Voters were split 50-50 on which candidate would best manage the economy, but Biden had a 12 point lead when it came to dealing with the pandemic.
Across the country, tensions are flaring between the two candidates' supporters with incidents reported in several states.
Two people in New Hampshire with pro-Trump slogans on their property received letters threatening to burn down their houses.
And according to Fox News, a man in Maryland has been charged with assault for allegedly firing a shotgun at two men with a Trump flag who honked the horn while driving by his house.
The man with the gun had pro-Biden signs in his yard.
In the meantime, President Trump held campaign rally on Tuesday in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, while Biden is taking the week off.
