COVID-19 surging worldwide; record-highs in UK, curfews imposed in Italy

Globally, record Covid-19 cases and fatalities across Europe and the U.S. in a second wave.
It's prompting countries in Europe to introduce more severe precautions against the outbreak than when it first made its way at the beginning of the year.

The United Kingdom recorded its highest daily number of COVID-19 cases on Tuesday...with more than 21-thousand-331 new infections.
This brings the total number of cases in the UK to over 762-thousand, with almost 44-thousand deaths.
Stricter measures have now been implemented in the Greater Manchester area.
"I can announce that Greater Manchester will move to a very high alert level. That means that pubs and bars must close, unless they're serving substantial meals. Households can't mix indoors or in most outdoor settings. In some public outdoor spaces, groups must be limited to the rule of six."
In Italy, several regions have imposed curfews to contain the spread of the virus.
Starting Thursday, the northern region of Lombardy, which is centered around Milan,... is banning late night gatherings between 11 PM to 5 AM...for a period of three weeks starting November 13th.
Also, the southern region of Campania, centered on Naples, said it would follow suit from Friday, with everything closed in the region from 11 PM.
While Piedmont, in the northwest, said it would shut shopping centers during weekends.
Meanwhile, in the U.S. fourteen states have this week set record-high numbers of new COVID-19 cases.
As of Monday local time, the nation's average new daily caseload was above 58-thousand...the highest in a single day since the first week of August,...and close to the peak of 67-thousand-200 in July.
Over in Russia, COVID-19 has surged in recent weeks after many restrictions were lifted and people began to hold large gatherings.
The country set its highest daily number of infections on Tuesday, with 16-thousand-319.
