The French ambassador to South Korea, Philippe Lefort on Friday visited the National Palace Museum of Korea...to see a rather special item on display.
A gold-colored, ceramic vase called 'Salamis', was a gift from France to the King of the Joseon Dynasty in 1888...to commemorate diplomatic relations.
It was the first diplomatic ceramic gift from the West.
Lefort said that he visited the display as it is a symbol of the ties between the two countries.
"I'm quite impressed by all this dynamic of cultural exchanges which produces new forms, aspects, thinking in every country and culture."
