President Moon Jae-in was in the southeastern city of Pohang on Thursday,... continuing his tour of the country that's aimed at boosting local economies outside of Seoul.
He said the region has been the country's leading exporter of textiles, electronics, and steel, but stressed that fierce international competition and protectionism have made it necessary for South Korea's traditional growth engines to innovate.
President Moon pledged to support Gyeongsangbuk-do Province by enabling local companies, universities and research institutes to work together to prepare for the 4th Industrial Revolution,... and also to support the region financially.
The president also visited the fourth generation light source accelerator -- a facility used by researchers to analyze extremely fine particles.
