Iran allows women weightlifters to participate in official powerlifting competitions

Female weightlifters in Iran can now participate in official powerlifting competitions, thanks to restrictions on women athletes in the field being removed recently.
Iranian women had been barred from competing in official powerlifting contests in the country, but government officials have issued a license to get rid of the ban.
Female powerlifters and their coaches were delighted to hear the news.
"We've seen noticeable progress within the past decade, particularly in women's fields. Restrictions are starting to fade away, more freedom has been given to women and women are doing more noticeable work."
Iran's Federation of Bodybuilding also says it will even make an official powerlifting team, comprised of just female athletes.
