Yes, indeed. Ryu Hyun-jin of the Toronto Blue Jays, as well as Kim Kwang-hyun of the St. Louis Cardinals have qualified for the MLB postseason as Wild Cards.
Last Thursday, Ryu was on the mound for seven scoreless innings against the Yankees to pick up his fifth win of the season and help the Blue Jays extend their season. They play Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday for the first meeting in the three-game series with a place in the playoffs at stake.
Kim Kwang-hyun also won on Thursday meaning they became the first pair of South Korean pitchers to win on the same day in MLB since August 2005. The St. Louis Cardinals finished second in the National League Central and will take on the San Diego Padres as Wild Cards on Wednesday. Meanwhile, infielder Choi Ji-man has been out injured but Tampa Bay Rays are hoping he will be back in time for the postseason.
Switching to football, bad news for Tottenham as it looks like Son Heung-min is going to be out for a while?
I'm afraid so.
Son Heung-min picked up a hamstring injury in Tottenham's 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on Sunday. Son had a busy first half, hitting the post and crossbar, but was taken off at half time due to injury. Spurs manager Jose Mourinho said that he expects Son to be out "for a while". In six matches so far, Son has scored five and assisted two.
To domestic football, it proved to be an eventful weekend in K League?
It certainly did. We had three players score hat-tricks over a K League 1 weekend which yielded 25 goals - one of the highest of the season so far.
During which Suwon Bluewings recorded their first league win over rivals FC Seoul in over fives years in the third and final Super Match of 2020. Australian striker Adam Taggart scored a hat-trick in Suwon's 3-1 win - enough to move the Bluewings up to eighth and three points clear of the drop zone.
Meanwhile, Incheon United won 6-0 against Seongnam to move off the foot of the table for the first time since Round Four in early June. However, it wasn't all good news as Stefan Mugosa, who scored a hat-trick in the Seongnam win, looks to have played his last game for Incheon this season. He has been called up to the Montenegro national team ahead of two UEFA Nations League matches in early October but will miss Incheon's last four games due to quarantine rules.
