At least thirteen people have died and six others injured in a crush at a nightclub in Peru… after trying to escape police who raided the club for violating COVID-19 restrictions.
The incident happened Saturday night local time, as crowds rushed to leave the club as officers arrived to break up the event.
"The crowd of people wanted to get out, seeing that we were coming in. In the hustle of everyone going out, immediately the door closes and we were all trapped. We instructed people to go back so as to be able to get out and rescue those at the bottom, but no one paid attention."
Among the six injured, three were police officers... and some 23 people were detained.
