It's time now for our Friday's edition of Arirang's 'The World Now'. I'm Kim Jae-hee.
Let's begin with the devastating floods in China that have affected more than 63 million people this summer.
China's emergency management official said Thursday... the floods that have continued since June have left more than two hundred people dead or missing, and destroyed 54-thousand homes.
"Among relief work, we always put the relocation of affected people as the top priority of our work. More than 4 million residents have been evacuated to safety, marking the largest number over the past years."
The floods have caused economic losses of some 25-point-7 billion U.S. dollars... which is more than 15 percent higher than the average flood damage in China over the past five years.
A total of 634 rivers have seen floods this year across China... with large freshwater lakes, including the Yangtze River, seeing water levels rise alarmingly.
