Mauritius residents rush to help efforts to contain oil spill
  • 4 years ago
Local residents rushed to contain the oil spill that befell Mauritius after a bulk carrier run aground a coral reef on the island on July 25.

Residents made makeshift absorbent barriers of straw-stuffed into fabric sacks in a bid to contain and absorb the oil. Some of the oil has already reached the coasts.

This footage was filmed by @gregrouxel and @hugoclementk on August 8.
