40 tin shacks for R2.4 million

Limpopo Premier, Stan Mathabatha, is distancing himself from a controversial shack settlement funded by his province. Mathabatha unveiled the 40 shacks in the Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality on Friday. The provincial government paid R2.4 million for the shacks, that's about R60,000 per shack. He now says he only found out about the units on the day of the unveiling, and was unaware of the poor quality of the units.
