Pedestrians swallowed as pavement suddenly collapses in southern China

Two pedestrians were swallowed into the ground as part of a pavement suddenly collapsed in southern China.
In the video filmed on July 27 in Chongqing, the sidewalk of the road near the Wujiang Second Bridge in Wulong District suddenly collapsed and two pedestrians fell into the pit below.
With the joint effort of firefighters and the people at the scene, the two were successfully rescued. One of them was injured and her foot was crushed by a stone. The other person had a wound on his head. They have been sent to the hospital for further examination.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
