COVID-19 cases surpass 76,000, reports DOH; UP experts predict more than 85,000 cases by end-July

The Department of Health (DOH) announced 2,103 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to over 76,000.

The country’s total number of cases is now at 76,444, barely a week left before this month ends. Experts from the University of the Philippines have projected that the Philippines’ cases may reach more than 85,000 by the end of July.

The total number of recovered patients has also increased to 24,502 by 144.

The case bulletin also showed that 15 more patients have died of the disease, bringing the death toll to 1,879.

“Two deaths have been removed after final validation. Moreover, we have updated the health status of five cases previously reported as deaths but after final validation were all recovered,” it noted.

“These numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation,” it added.
