U.S., Chinese ambassadors to S. Korea meet to discuss bilateral relations, N. Korea

The U.S. ambassador to South Korea, Harry Harris, and Chinese ambassador (Shing High-ming) Xing Haiming had a surprise meeting Wednesday at the U.S. embassy in Seoul.
According to their embassies, they met for about an hour to discuss U.S.-China relations and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
Harris uploaded a selfie of their meeting to his Twitter.
According to the Chinese embassy, Xing said China does not have the capability nor willingness to surpass nor replace the U.S. and hopes the U.S. could respect China's interests and choices.
Harris said Washington and Beijing are facing difficulties in their bilateral relations but added that he hopes they can strengthen their ties especially in regards to North Korea.
It was the first time the top envoys met officially one-on-one.
