The top nuclear envoys of South Korea and the U.S. have held three meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to discuss North Korea issues.
The South Korean mission to the UN says Lee Do-hoon, the foreign ministry's representative for Korean Peninsula peace and security affairs, met with Stephen Biegun,... the U.S. Special Representative for North Korea from Wednesday to Thursday.
The two reportedly evaluated the recent inter-Korean summit in Pyeongyang, the bilateral summit between Presidents Moon and Trump... and exchanged views on how to accelerate the denuclearization process.
They also talked about U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's planned visit to Pyeongyang next month and even the proposed second North Korea-U.S. summit.
The meetings were held after Pompeo revealed he invited North Korean officials to meet Biegun in Vienna at the "earliest opportunity."
