S. Korea celebrates 72nd Constitution Day; ceremony scaled down due to COVID-19

South Korea is marking its 72nd Constitution Day on this Friday.
To mark the occasion, the National Assembly will hold a ceremony at 10 AM local time,…where Assembly speaker Park Byeong-seug will deliver speech under the theme of "National Assembly for the People and Tomorrow."
The event will be attended by Prime Minister Chung Se-kyun along with some 1-hundred-10 senior judiciary government officials and lawmakers.
However, in light of COVID-19, the event has been scaled down, omitting performances,…as well as making social distancing and face masks mandatory.
South Korea's constitution was promulgated on this day in 1948 based on open democracy.
It was last revised in 1987 after of decades of authoritarian rule.
