Hong Kong needs Beijing approval to handle national security law cases in three situations

There are three circumstances when Hong Kong’s government needs to seek approval from the Chinese central government to exercise jurisdiction over cases under the national security law Beijing recently enacted for the city, according to Hong Kong Deputy Commissioner of Police, National Security, Edwina Lau Chi-wai.
