On October 1, 2020 Hong Kong riot police raised the purple flag warning against acts that breach the national security law after people gathered in Causeway Bay despite march being banned for health and safety reasons. Those gathered chanted “liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times”, as about 6,000 officers were deployed after online calls for action as Hong Kong marks the 71st anniversary of People’s Republic of China.
