As many as 6,000 children around the world could die every day from preventable causes over the next six months due to the impact of coronavirus on routine health services, the UN has warned. Global disruption of essential maternal and child health interventions – such as family planning, birth and postnatal care, and vaccinations – could lead to an additional 1.2 million deaths of under fives in just six months, according to analysis by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, published in the Lancet Global Health Journal.

संयुक्त राष्ट्र बाल कोष (यूनिसेफ) ने चेतावनी दी है कि कोविड-19 वैश्विक महामारी के कारण हर दिन छह हजार बच्‍चे मारे जा सकते हैं। यूनिसेफ ने कहा कि स्वास्थ्य प्रणाली कमजोर हो जाने और नियमित सेवाएं बाधित हो जाने के कारण आगामी 6 महीने में रोजाना करीब 6,000 अतिरिक्त बच्चों की ऐसे कारणों से मौत हो सकती है, जिन्हें रोका जा सकता है।
