The Trump administration is looking to fire up development of semiconductor factories in the U.S.as concerns swirl about the country's reliance on Asia due to the renewed tensions between the U.S. and China over COVID-19.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Intel is discussing with government officials about improving domestic sources for microelectronics related technology.
The Taiwanese chip producer T-S-M-C have reportedly been in talks with the U.S. Department of Commerce about building a factory in the U.S.
U.S. officials are also reportedly looking at enlarging Samsung Electronics plants in Texas to expand its contract-manufacturing operations although the company has yet to confirm the report.
