His disappearance from public eye prompted an explosion of rumors.

U.S. officials "have not seen" North Korean leader Kim Jong-un of late,... amid swirling rumors surrounding his health.
Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, told Fox News Wednesday that he has not seen Kim recently and does not have any information regarding his condition.
Pompeo added that Washington is keeping a close eye on the situation,... as it affects America's push for the denuclearization of the North.
The North Korean leader's absence from a major annual event on April 15th,... commemorating his late grandfather's birthday,... triggered speculation and rumors that he was seriously ill.
Daily NK,... a Seoul-based website,... cited unidentified sources who said the 36-year-old was in critical condition after undergoing heart surgery.
It suggested that his failing health was due to a number of factors, including obesity, his smoking habits, and fatigue.
Additional reports that Kim was not in Pyeongyang, but at his private residence in Pyeonganbuk-do Province, further fanned the flames,... even leading to speculation over who would assume state leadership.
Seoul's presidential office and unification ministry have denied reports of Kim's ill health,... saying there have been no unusual movements in Pyongyang,... and suggested that his disappearance from the public eye is due to concerns over COVID-19.
However, U.S. officials have shown uncertainty over Kim's whereabouts and his health condition.
President Donald Trump said he "does not know" of Kim status or whether the rumors are true.
Recent satellite photos tracked by North Korea-monitoring websites NK Pro and 38 North,... show Kim Jong-un's personal train and luxury boats near the port city of Wonsan,... suggesting that the dictator is currently staying there.
Kim Jong-un last appearance on state media was on April 12th.
