Salvation Army delivering donated masks to frontline workers

Last month, we reported about the Salvation Army's campaign to collect extra masks from people to distribute to others who need them.
The masks they collected are now being delivered to workers across the country.
Our Kim Do-yeon reports.
The Salvation Army started delivering the donated masks and filters to community workers on the front lines on Tuesday.
These workers include street sweepers and other sanitation workers who help disinfect public places.
The Salvation Army decided to give them the masks because they have no time to buy their own while working longer shifts.
Today, they're at Sadang Station distributing masks to the people who clean and sterilize Seoul's subway system.
Each worker will receive 4 masks, 2 filters and a note from the donors .
And it was clear the gift was appreciated.
"I thank them for donating. I also take it as their way of asking us to work harder."
The Salvation Army says the response has been more than they expected.
"We're trying to show love to the workers, but when we see their smiles, it's like we're the ones who're loved."
Last month, asking people to donate face masks, they twice set up donation booths on the street and accepted donations via mail.
Just in face masks, more than 14,000 were collected,… and many people sent extra mask filters, hand sanitizers and cash.
The Salvation Army will hold another collection campaign next month on their website, this time to help mom-and-pop stores by buying food from them and delivering it to struggling low-income households.
