As COVID-19 continues to spread globally, and with South Korea seeing an increase in the number of imported cases, Seoul is temporarily suspending the validity of short-term visas.
Those issued before and on April 5th will no longer be valid.
On top of that, visa waivers for foreign nationals arriving from countries that restrict the entry of South Korean travelers will be suspended.
Not only will there be visa requirements, screening will become more strict.
All visa applicants will be required to submit medical examination reports that show that they do not have any COVID-19-related symptoms.
Just a few countries, including the U.S., UK, Ireland and Mexico will be excluded from this measure as they still allow South Koreans to enter their countries.
China is not subject to this as there is no visa waiver program between South Korea and China.
