U.S. Forces Korea has temporarily suspended a curfew for service members that will last for 90 days starting today.
Following orders of Commander General Robert Abrams... the USFK says the intent of the curfew suspension is to provide its personnel "greater access to all Korea has to offer"... while serving as an assessment whether to maintain or rescind the curfew after the evaluation period.
The curfew between one-AM and five-AM was first enforced in 2011... due to a surge in sex crimes and drunk driving of the command's service members.
The command has meanwhile, played down concerns the curfew suspension would have any effect on military readiness on the peninsula... which it says remains as a top priority.
