Here, in this video, we are Featuring Bhoothathankettu, the old dam.On both sides of river Periyar large unshaped rocks are found.
During the ancient days people in that native believed that these rocks are placed on either side of river
by superhumans which they called "Bhootham" means Monsters.
The name Bhoothathan Kettu, means "Monster Fort".
This original natural dam has been supplemented by a modern dam impounding the Bhoothathankettu Reservoir (Thattekad Reservoir).
