China reported a sharp rise in new infections and 118 more deaths on February 21, 2020, as it continues to fight the coronavirus epidemic. One day earlier, China reported its lowest increase in new infections in weeks at 394. Chinese health experts say the fluctuation in numbers may suggest the crisis has yet to reach its peak. In Hubei province, the epicentre of the outbreak, 271 new cases were reported at two prisons.
