Malaysia is considering selling stakes in energy giant Petronas to states where the company’s oil and gas fields are located, said Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng told reporters today that the move should be viewed in line with the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

Sarawak and neighboring Sabah have Malaysia’s most prolific oil and gas reserves in their waters in the South China Sea.
