Amid rising concerns that Hong Kong's government may expand its use of colonial-era powers, Hong Kong's leader said her administration has no such plans.
Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam said there will be NO use of emergency powers for the introduction of other laws.
She added that the city was equipped to handle the current crisis on its own... as the territory has braved through the 4 months of demonstrations.
Last Friday, for the first time in more than 50 years, the Hong Kong leader activated emergency powers to ban the use of masks at city protests.
