South Korea has sent an official complaint to the International Olympic Committee over Japan's potential use of its imperial flag at the Tokyo Olympics next year.
In a letter, Seoul's sports ministry expressed deep disappointment and concerns over the possible use of the Rising Sun Flag.
The ministry urged the IOC to ban the use of the flag, explaining it has the same connotations as the Nazi's Swastika.
Last month, Tokyo's Olympic organizing committee said there is no reason to ban the flag during the event, saying there is nothing inherently political about it.
