The top diplomats of South Korea and Japan are set to sit down for talks on Wednesday,... as tensions sour between the two neighbors.
Seoul's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will sit down with her Japanese counterpart Taro Kono in Beijing to discuss pending bilateral issues.
Kang is expected to urge Tokyo to come to the negotiating table to resolve the tensions,... while raising Seoul's opposition to Japan's export controls.
The meeting comes just days before the deadline for Seoul to decide whether to renew its intel-sharing pact with Japan,... known as the General Security of Military Information Agreement or GSOMIA.
