With more and more Koreans looking to find places to visit without having to deal with the intense summer heat,... caves and underground tunnels are gaining popularity this summer.

Sunchang County,... located in a mountainous part of Jeollabuk-do Province,... is famous for its red pepper paste, or gochujang,... and it's fermented bean paste known as dwenjang.
While it might be surrounded by mountains and forests,... the summer heat is no different from the rest of the country.
But this place is a whole other world.
Initially created to store and ferment Sunchang County's famous pastes,... more and more Koreans are seeking out the man-made underground tunnel to find refuge from the summer heat.
It also doubles as a museum which educates visitors about what makes the region's pastes unique.
It feels like early winter weather here. It's really cool. Almost like I need a jacket.
And this is a made-made cave. Muju County in Jeollabuk-do Province is a popular place for tourists. But this summer,... visitors are flocking to the Meoru Wine Cave to escape from the heat.
Under the dazzling lights,... visitors can enjoy its wine and other activities,... but most importantly, they can escape the heat.
It's cool in here, but it's hot outside. We came here because the Geumsan Mountain Camping site was too hot.
When it comes to beating the summer heat,... more and more Koreans are heading underground,... to cool off in these tunnels and caves.
