Best summer fruits to add to your diet to stay healthy

"무더운 여름철, 제철과일로 건강챙겨요"

If you are watching us here in Korea,... I'm afraid to say that we have another very hot and sticky weekend to ahead of us,... with Saturday expected to be the hottest day of the season so far.
And our Choi Si-young tells us some ways we can stay healthy and avoid heat-related illnesses.
Fresh fruit does not cure diseases.
But they DO boost our immune systems and make us less prone to illnesses because they are packed with vitamins and minerals.
Although they look similar, vitamins come from plants and animals, while minerals originate from water, rocks and soil.
And vitamins are destroyed when exposed to heat or chemical agents whereas minerals are not.
Most importantly, vitamins are necessary for our body to function properly, but not all minerals are necessary to lead a healthy life.
Watermelons are rich in Vitamins A and C as well as minerals like potassium and magnesium.
But more importantly,... they are 92-percent water, which makes them perfect to stay hydrated during the intense heat.
Watermelons also have other health benefits, such as helping to relieve muscle soreness and reducing inflammation.
During summer, it's harder to fall asleep due to the hot and humid nights.
Bananas could be one way to stop tossing and turning in bed for hours.
Bananas are rich in 'tryptophan.'
It's a type of amino acid that helps you doze off more easily.
Bananas are almost fat-free as well, so if you're working out this should be your fruit of choice.
Bananas have other health benefits, too.
They help soothe sore muscles, ease cramps and reduce the risk of heart disease.
It's also a long-established fact that prolonged exposure to sunlight darkens our skin.
If you want to maintain a lighter skin tone, peaches help our bodies produce less 'melanin' which is the compound that makes your skin tan in the sun.
And in South Korea, festivals dedicated to peaches only are held on a regular basis.
While the heatwave rages on in South Korea, staying out of the heat and eating some of these summer fruits will cool you down and, more importantly, keep you healthy, all while tasting great.
