Gods Son Has Set Me Free - Brorson

Joy can take many forms: extrovert and more contained and subdued. The rejoicing here is the subdued and hidden kind. You must tasted it to grasp it properly. Let the words do their work: retro it may be -to say the least! but it is filled with assurance and gladness. The melody is from Heddal in Norway, and a choral version of it was made by Edvard Greig. However, I prefer the original as the underlying joy comes better into focus. I have therefore stuck to an early form.
The soloist is a well-known performer on the Hardanger fiddle.
