Text and melody written by Åge Samuelsen, 1947, shortly after he was saved from alcoholism.
This version is one of many, so I have added snippets of other versions to give a more balanced impression. Here it is sung by Elias Akselsen, who is from the Scandinavian branch of the Romanies, and like them, has suffered persecution because of it, and he gives it all the pathos of gypsy music.
