Ragaa Yousef Egyptian bellydancer with Warda

From the 1963 film Almaz Abdo El Hamouli, a biographical movie about the lives of two famous Egyptian singers from the late 1800's who were married to each other. Warda plays the part of Almaz, a poor woman with a prodigious voice who was discovered by the then famous singer Abdo El Hamouli (played by singer Adel Mamoun) who eventually married her to save her from the unwanted advances of Egypt's then governor under the Ottoman Empire. This scene is a wedding. Warda's character has been hired to sing there. The man in the white galabeya sitting in the audience is actor Shokry Sarhan and in the blue galabeya and red cap is actor Fouad el Mohandes. Ragaa Youssef is the dancer. Ragaa Youssef began her career in the Akef circus as an acrobat and appeared in about 25 films. Her sister Awatef Youssef was a circus acrobat and dancer as well and they often danced as a duo. Awatef retired early and Ragaa Youssef went on to produce and act in several films. She married director Ahmed el Nahas. Ragaa Youssef died in 1992
