The United States may reportedly loosen sanctions on North Korea,... if it agrees to shut down its nuclear complex and freeze its WMD program.
If confirmed, it would be a major concession to North Korea from the Trump White House.
Our Choi Si-young reports.

According to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, sources familiar with North Korea issues at the White House said Thursday that the U.S. is reviewing loosening sanctions on North Korea,... if certain conditions are met.

North Korea would have to agree to the full closure of its Yeongbyeon nuclear complex and a complete freeze of its WMD programs.
In return, North Korea could start shipping its main exports again, namely coal and textiles.

The sources said the U.S. and North Korea need further consultation on how to verify the closure of the nuclear complex,... and this process may be tricky.
If the deal is struck, the U.S. would immediately re-impose sanctions on North Korea for any violations of their agreement.

The sources also said the U.S. is reviewing a "peace declaration" which is not a treaty, but an official recognition that the U.S. and North Korea are no longer in a state of armed hostility.
It would also mean the de-facto end of the Korean War.

Also under consideration is establishing a liaison office between the countries.
The sources explained the office could help retrieve American war remains in North Korea.
The sources noted the Trump administration is open to many ideas on North Korea's denuclearization.
