UNSC sanctions committee on North Korea reviewing sanctions implementation
  • 5 years ago
The UN Security Council's sanctions committee is holding a closed-door meeting to discuss sanctions on North Korea, including possible tougher measures.
The committee is reviewing how UN member states have been implementing the sanctions, as well as looking at the expert panel reports submitted last week.
The reports said the regime has been illegally receiving refined petroleum products via ship-to-ship transfers and has been exporting small arms to Syria, Yemen, Libya and Sudan.
The committee will discuss if additions need to be made to the sanctions list and if exemptions for humanitarian aid should be granted.
