UNSC approves sanctions waiver for equipment to be brought into the North for Manwoldae excavation
  • 5 years ago
The UN Security Council has given the green light to bring equipment into North Korea for the two Koreas to excavate ancient relics at a site in Gaeseong.
A South Korean foreign affairs source said the council approved the temporary sanctions waiver on Tuesday,... while not disclosing the specific list of what will be brought into the North.
The two Koreas' efforts to discover the layout of the ancient Goryeo Dynasty palace of Manwoldae started back in 2007,.. but the project has been on and off depending on the inter-Korean relationship.
The latest round of excavations was held late last year.
