U.S. Federal Reserve officials have reconfirmed the Fed's current monetary policy could remain in place for some time,... signaling they see little need to change interest rates in either direction.
According to the newly released minutes of the Fed's meeting held from April 30th to May 1st,... they agreed the current patient approach is necessary for the near future,... despite continued improvements in the global economic and financial conditions.
They also assessed the recent weak inflation as only temporary.
Following the meeting,... the Fed kept its interest rates steady between two and a quarter and two and a half percent.
