New Kenya's JSC Commissioners sworn in

Human rights lawyer Macharia Njeru and High Court Judge David Majanja were on Wednesday morning sworn at the Supreme Court as representatives of LSK and High Court to the JSC respectively.

The duo took oath under the administration of Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi, marking the beginning of their 5-year reign as representatives at the Judicial Service Commission.

Macharia Njeru, who is also a former IPOA boss beat Prof Tom Ojienda on Thursday last week in a fiercely contested Law Society of Kenya elections.

He garnered 2,738 votes against Ojienda’s 2,545 votes. The poll was however marred with low voter turnout. Yesterday, Prof Ojienda reportedly hatched a plan to challenge the eligibility Njeru’s election to the JSC.
