Foreigners who stay longer than 6 months in S. Korea must join state health insurance
  • 5 years ago
Foreign students staying in Korea longer than 6 months will have to join the state health insurance system starting this July.
The law has been revised to prevent foreign nationals from abusing the system by signing up for the plan, paying just a small fee, and then getting expensive treatments.
Most foreign students use private health insurance that costs less than a hundred dollars a year.
The state system, though, will cost around six times that much.
