Learn the art of making this perfect Summer dessert with our step-by-step video.

1. To a jug of fruit juice, add rum, if using, sugar and lime juice. Stir until sugar dissolves.

2. Pour into a freezerproof container. Cover and freeze.

3. Take out of freezer every 2hr and scrape at surface with a fork to break up ice crystals. Repeat until it’s flaky and liquid is frozen. The granita will keep for up to a month in freezer.
