It increasingly looks like the U.S. will no longer grant sanctions waivers to any country that is currently importing Iranian crude or condensate.
The Washington Post, citing U.S. State Department officials, says the announcement is to be made by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday morning, local time.
The State Department has a press briefing by Pompeo scheduled for that time,... but hasn't given any further details on the topic.
The current sanctions waiver that the U.S. gave to eight countries including South Korea,... is set to expire on May 2nd.
The sanctions follow the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran in May last year, as the deal "had not stopped Iran from developing its ballistic missile program."
