N. Korea's coal exports have not stopped despite UN sanctions: 38 North
  • 5 years ago
It appears that North Korea has continued to export coal over the years... despite UN Security Council sanctions that ban the regime from doing so.
U.S.-based North Korea monitoring website 38 North analyzed satellite images of Nampo Port,... where most of the large cargo shipments leave the North.
It says,.... the number and size of cargo vessels docked at the port.... has decreased significantly since early 2017 -- from three large ships to one five-hold ship.
But the website noted nearly 50 coal cars were seen at the port's storage area... and that while there are fewer than before,... shipping has not stopped... meaning coal exports are likely continuing.
