Nikki Haley Slams North Korea's 'Cruelty' After Trump Defends Kim Jong Un Over Otto Warmbier's Death

Nikki Haley posted a tweet about Otto Warmbier's death.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley sent out a tweet not long after President Trump defended North Korean leader Kim Jong-un over the 2017 death of Otto Warmbier, a 22-year-old who was imprisoned in North Korea and returned to the US in a coma.  "Americans know the cruelty that was placed on Otto Warmbier by the North Korean regime," Haley wrote. "Our hearts are with the Warmbier family for their strength and courage. We will never forget Otto."  Trump made the comment in question during a Thursday press conference held in Hanoi, Vietnam.  He was asked if, during his summit with Kim, he confronted the leader about Warmbier's alarming condition upon his return to the US. Trump replied, in part: "I have, and we have talked about it. And I really don't think it was in his interest at all…He tells me that he didn't know about it, and I will take him at his word."
