Deadly moonshine kills at least 154, hospitalizes hundreds in India

At least 154 people have died and more than 200 others have been hospitalized after consuming tainted alcohol in India.
The deaths in Assam state came less than two weeks after the moonshine, known locally as "country-made liquor" killed a hundred people in the north of the country.
Thirty four people have been arrested for their suspected involvement in the supply of the illegal alcohol.
Police suspect the victims contracted methyl alcohol poisoning from methanol that was added to the mixture.
The incident is the latest in India's long battle to control fake or illegal alcohol, which sells for about a third of the price of legally brewed liquor.
