The visitors eventually declared but not before pushing Australia on the back-foot. Cheteshwar Pujara, who resumed on an overnight score of 130, fell seven runs short of his double century as he was dismissed on 193. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant scored his Test career’s second century as he finished unbeaten on 159. Down the order, Ravindra Jadeja played a handy knock of 81 runs. At stumps Australia were 24/0, trailing by 598 runs.
