After Arjuna showed his grief about the war to Lord Krishna, he could no longer stand on his feet. Here ends the first chapter of the Bhagavad Gita called Arjuna-Vishada-Yog (the yoga of Arjuna’s grief). Watch this video as we explain the last two verse in the first chapter of Bhagavad Gita.

1 The forty-fifth stanza is as follows;
|| Yadi Mam’ Apratikaram Ashastram Shastra-Panayah
Dhartarashtra Rane Hanyus Tanme Kshemataram Bhavet||
2 At the end Arjuna says this;
I won’t mind, even if the sons of Dhritarashtra armed with weapons in their hand, kill me on this very battlefield. That would rather be beneficial for me.
3 Sanjaya concludes the description of his envision in the forty-sixth verse;
|| Sanjaya Uvacha
Evam Uktvarjunah Sankhye Rathopastha Upavishat
Visrijya Sa-Sharam Chapam Shoka-Samvigna-Manasah ||
4 The translation of this stanza is as follows;
Sanjaya said,
Having thus spoken in the middle of Kurukshetra, Arjuna cast his Gandhiva aside and settles down on the seat of his chariot with his mind filled in deep sorrow.
5 The following colophon marks the end of Bhagavad Gita’s first chapter. It says;
|| Itiya Srimad Bhagavad Gita Supanishatsu Brahmavidyayam
Yogashastre Srikrishnarjuna Samvade Dharmkarmayuddhyogo Namah Prathamo ‘Dhayah ||
6 This colophon can be roughly translated as;
Thus ends the first chapter of Srimad Bhagavad Gita, that is the wisdom of Brahma and Yoga Shastra, which delivers the dialogues between Lord Krishna and Arjuna, entitled: Dharma Karam Yuddh Yog.
