South Korea has been suffering from chronically low birth rate for a long time.
The latest figures show: last year's numbers will be the lowest ever...
if the trend continued through December.

The number of newborns last November was the lowest... since monthly figures were first compiled in 1981.
According to Statistics Korea, the total number of babies born in November was 25-thousand-300... down by more than 8-thousand from the same month in 2015.
The November figure has fallen for four years in a row.
As for the total for 2018, from January to November the number of births was 303-thousand-900.
Statistics Korea says if that trend holds for December, then the yearly total will be less than 330-thousand,... a new record low.
The current low was just the year before, in 2017.
One reason for the decline in births is a low number of new marriages.
In fact, the number of marriages dropped in November by 7 point 3 percent from a year earlier.
That figure was also the lowest on record.
