An extravagant panto that's wowing crowds with fireworks and 3D effects is thought to be the most expensive amateur production in Britain - with a £35,000 budget for seven shows.

Each performance of classic children's tale Babes in the Wood is costing the dramatics company behind it a whopping £5,000. Audience members paying up to £15 a ticket get bang for their buck though, with magnificent visual effects never-before-seen in pantomime.
